Buddy Donates a Teddy Bear to Jason’s Christmas Drive

Our webmaster told us about this inspiring young man who for the past few years has raised money to buy teddy bears for kids at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California. His name is Jason O’Neill and he became an entrepreneur at just 9 years old when he founded Pencil Bugs.

Jason’s now 15 and this year he published a book called Bitten by the Business Bug: Common Sense Tips for Business and Life from a Teen Entrepreneur.

And when he was just 12 he was listed by Forbes as one of Ten Role Models 18 and Under. If you check the list you’ll also see some popular teen musicians, actors, Olympians and other entrepreneurs.

This week Buddy has been a bit under the weather and went to the vet. Besides his cool co-workers, he’s been comforted by his favorite blanket and one of Ed’s sweatshirts. When he heard how these Teddy Bears would make kids feel a bit better while at the hospital, he just knew he wanted to donate one.

Unfortunately today is the final day to donate to this years bear project. Jason needs time to buy the teddy bears, put the tags on them and get them delivered to the hospital… but he truly understands what it means to succeed in life and business – he’s always donating to various causes.

Here’s some of the fun from last year when he donated 1,800 Teddy Bears – WOW!

Also be sure to check out Jason speaking a few months ago at the TEDxRedmond conference held at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington.

December 6th update: We just heard that Jason raised enough to donate 500 teddy bears this year… Congrats on another successful year!
